All of us at Sassafras have so much fun making and connecting friends and family through the love and joy of collecting beautiful handmade art in all forms. From the studio to the sales floor we would like to introduce you to the hands that make our beautiful jewelry.

Introducing Elly, Peggy, Charles and Zoe. Three generations of the Cummings legacy!

Elly learned everything about sales and design from her very talented mother Peggy and studied design in school. Peggy designed and manufactured a leather clothing collection for many years. Keep your eye out for a collaboration popup between Mountain Rhythm and Sassafras Hawaii this fall.

Elly and her father hard at work. Charles is an incredible self taught gold and silversmith who began his metalsmithing journey by taking an apprenticeship with a metal craftsman when he was young. Together they crafted brass hardware for homes, like intricate door knob plates, floral fountains and detailed gates. From this knowledge Charles was able to scale his work down even further and start working not only in brass, but also in silver and gold and gemstones. His works of art are beyond comparison, his craftsmanship is impeccable and his rare talent shows through in each and every one of his original pieces. Elly is lucky to be his apprentice, and delights in learning a life long skill that is so rare and so timeless.
